Where Is Fulton County NY? Let Us Show You the Way!

fulton-county-ny

Enjoy the natural beauty of the Adirondack Mountains in Fulton County NY. See the many lakes, historic sites, quirky restaurants, and many other attractions.

If you've ever dreamed of being nestled into the Adirondack Mountains for a few days, then you must look into Fulton County NY. It's brimming with the sweetest towns amidst the most picturesque landscapes.

We're talking mountains, rivers, streams, and massive lakes. Best of all, the scenery is show-stopping 365 days/year.

In the winter, you'll be swathed in snow, and primed for skiing and ice fishing. In the fall, the foliage will steal your breath. In the summer, you won't want to remove your toes from the shorelines of the lakes.

Let's take a stroll through six of our favorite places to visit in Fulton County.

Adirondack Animal Land

Located in Gloversville, this is one of our favorite Fulton County activities. You and your little ones will build lasting memories here.

Start with the tractor ride where you'll be given a container of food that will lure in all kinds of friendly game, including camels, yaks, ostriches, and more.

Then, make the acquaintance of some spider monkeys and giraffes. Adirondack Animal Land is the kind of petting zoo that will stick with you and the kiddos forever.

Royal Mountain Ski Area

Right off Route 10 in Caroga Lake, you'll find a small, family-run operation on a small mountain with three lifts and several trails for every level of skier.

What's nice is you won't be overrun by hoards of fellow thrill-seekers. If you're looking to pick up a few ski lessons, this is the place to do it, given it's laid back and calm nature.

Kane Mountain Fire Observation Station

If you're in the area but it's not quite ski season yet, you can still keep Caroga on the agenda. Kane Mountain offers fantastic hiking trails for moderate trail enthusiasts.

In 2001, the Kane Mountain Fire Observation Station was added to the National Register of Historic Places; it dates back to 1925.

You can still access it today, via three separate foot trails that lead to the summit. Once atop, you'll feel better than Kate and Leo at the foot of the Titanic.

Nine Corner Lake

Keeping with the wonderful hiking trails and panoramic views, you can also check out Nine Corner Lake. It, too, is located in Caroga and offers moderate climbs.

While in this majestic greenscape, you'll even pass a waterfall dancing down from a couple of mountain streams. Also, its large rock outcroppings make for the perfect swan dives into pools of crystal clear waters.

Johnson Hall State Historic Site

If you're a history buff, this is a must. Located in Johnstown, the ties that bind this house include an Irish pioneer who went on to become a British Superintendent of Indian Affairs. This was the home of Sir William Johnson (1715 - 1774).

He came to America during a tumultuous time but managed to successfully forge peaceful bonds with the Mohawk and other Iroquois League nations during his tenure. Today, it stands as a National Historic Landmark and is well worth a walk-through.

Canada Lake

Whenever we need a weekend getaway, we head to Canada Lake. It's a spectacular sight in the town of Caroga dotted with the loveliest little cabins and homes. This lake sees a lot of action, winter, spring, summer, and fall.

In the winter, ice fishing aficionados flock to it. In the summer, its deep waters lend themselves to all kinds of recreations, from boating to wakeboarding and more. Without question, this is well worth inputting in your Airbnb search.
